- Puppy price band (guide): about S$4,000–S$6,000 at Furgive You SG, with nothing added at collection.

How much does a Westie cost in Singapore? As a guide, a West Highland White Terrier puppy from our AVS-licensed shop costs about S$4,000–S$6,000, and running costs are roughly S$140–S$250 a month. The Westie is one of the few terriers named on HDB's approved-breed list, which makes it a realistic choice for flat owners who want a small, confident dog with plenty of character.
Furgive You SG is an AVS-licensed puppy shop (Licence AS24C00019) at 278 East Coast Road, Singapore 428944, open Tuesday to Sunday, 12pm–6pm, by appointment, and closed on Mondays. Our Westies are ethically imported from established overseas terrier breeders through our licensed shop. We do not breed locally.

Westie puppy price bands in Singapore (2026)
Our Westie page quotes a 2026 guide band of about S$4,000–S$6,000. The spread comes down to:
- Coat and colour quality. Westies are always white, but coat texture and pigment vary between litters.
- Age on arrival. Older puppies have had more vet visits and socialisation before they reach us.
- Litter size. Well-bred Westies are uncommon in Singapore, and litters are often reserved in advance.
At Furgive You, the quoted price is the price you pay at collection. There is no separate import surcharge, vaccination top-up or microchip fee added at the counter. We will always tell you where a particular puppy sits in the band and why.
What is included in a Westie's price
Our Westie page lists everything that comes with the puppy:
| What's included | At Furgive You |
|---|---|
| Age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming | Included |
| AVS microchip and registration paperwork | Included |
| AVS dog licence transferred to you | Included |
| Vaccination card and vet health certificate | Included |
| Import permits, health certificates, quarantine compliance | Included |
| Clearance through AVS import checks | Included |
| Puppy starter kit (puppy kibble and a training leash) | Included |
| Lifetime WhatsApp aftercare | Included |
Our puppy price guide notes that sellers who bill these separately can add S$800–S$2,000 to an apparently cheaper puppy. Compare written breakdowns, not headline numbers.
Monthly cost of owning a Westie in Singapore
Our Westie page budgets roughly S$140–S$250 a month once your puppy is home:
| Cost item | Guide figure |
|---|---|
| Premium food suited to the breed | S$50–S$90 a month |
| Professional grooming | S$70–S$110 per session |
| Heartworm, tick and flea prevention | S$30–S$50 a month |
| Annual vaccination and health check | S$150–S$300 a year |
| Pet insurance (optional) | S$40–S$90 a month |
| AVS dog licence (AVS figures) | S$15 a year sterilised / S$90 a year not sterilised |
One-off set-up (crate, playpen, bedding, bowls, harness, grooming tools and puppy pads) runs about S$400–S$800, according to our price guide.
Estimate for year one: the puppy band plus twelve months of running costs (S$1,680–S$3,000) comes to roughly S$5,680–S$9,000. With set-up, that is about S$6,080–S$9,800. This is an estimate, not a quote. It excludes sterilisation and emergencies.
Grooming a Westie
The Westie's coarse white double coat sheds little but needs weekly brushing and hand-stripping or clipping every 8–10 weeks. At that interval you would book roughly five to seven grooms a year. At S$70–S$110 a session, that is an estimated S$350–S$770 a year on grooming alone.
Westies can be prone to skin flare-ups in humidity. Rinse and dry thoroughly after outdoor time, avoid over-bathing, and check ears weekly. Damp fur is a common trigger for hot spots in our climate.
Westies and HDB flats
HDB allows one dog of an approved breed per flat. The approved breeds are a named list in the Schedule to the Housing and Development (Animals) Rules 2024: 61 named breeds, plus item 62 for a cross of any two of them. It is a list of breeds, not a weight test.
The West Highland Terrier is item 58 on that list. That makes the Westie an eligible breed for an HDB flat. You must still keep to HDB's rules, including one dog per flat, and AVS notes fines of up to S$4,000 for breaking them (AVS limits of ownership). Check HDB's keeping pets page before buying.
Two practical points:
- A Westie cross only falls under item 62 if both parent breeds are on the Schedule.
- In a condo, the MCST by-laws decide. Check them before you pay a deposit.
An AVS dog licence is a separate legal requirement and is not an HDB approval. AVS says this directly on its licensing requirements page.
Temperament, exercise and neighbours
Westies are confident, curious and alert. They want about 45 minutes of purposeful activity a day: two brisk walks plus a game of tug or fetch. Keep walks to the cooler hours, before roughly 9am and after 7pm.
In a flat, the biggest issue is barking at corridor noise. Train a quiet cue early, reward calm behaviour, and socialise your puppy with lifts, void decks and delivery trolleys from the start. A confident dog is usually a quieter dog.
Westies suit families with school-age children who respect a dog with opinions. They can live happily with other dogs when socialised early.
Is a Westie the right small breed for you?
A Westie is not the only small dog on HDB's list, so it helps to be honest about fit before you look at price.
A Westie may suit you if:
- you want a sturdy, small terrier with a big personality rather than a lap dog
- someone in the household can commit to weekly brushing and regular hand-stripping or clipping
- you are happy to put real time into training a quiet cue for corridor noise
- your children are old enough to give a dog space when it wants it
A Westie may not suit you if:
- you need a dog that will happily be left alone for long working days
- you want a coat that needs no regular professional care
- skin care in humidity (drying after every bath, weekly ear checks) sounds like a chore you will skip
If you are unsure, come and meet one before deciding. We would rather match you to the right breed than sell you the wrong one.
Red flags on cheap Westie listings
Our Westie page is clear: listings well below S$3,000 usually mean undocumented imports, no AVS licence behind the sale, or puppies taken from their litter too early. Before you pay a deposit, ask for:
- the seller's AVS pet shop licence number
- the breeder's name and the puppy's country of origin
- the vaccination card and health certificate
- a chance to meet the puppy in person
A deposit at Furgive You reserves a specific puppy. We only take one after you have met the puppy or seen full video and paperwork.
