HDB flat? Ask before you fall in love

Only breeds named on HDB's Schedule, or a cross of two of them, are allowed in HDB flats. It is a named list, not a weight test. Some of our breeds qualify and some do not, and we will tell you honestly which is which. Condo owners should check their MCST by-laws.

What to expect when you visit a dog shop

Whether you visit us or another shop, a good visit should feel unhurried. Here is what we think you should be able to do at any licensed dog shop in Singapore:

• See the licence. The AVS licence number should be displayed and match the business name.
• Meet the puppy in a quiet space. Puppies are easily overwhelmed, and so are children. A calm room helps you see the puppy's real personality.
• Read the paperwork. Ask for the vaccination card, vet health certificate and import documents, and the breeder's name and country.
• Talk honestly about fit. A good shop will ask about your home, working hours, children and housing rules, and will say so if a breed is not right.
• Leave without paying. You should never feel pushed to put down a deposit on the day.

At Furgive You, a 45-minute play date covers all of this. You will meet the puppy, see the health records and import paperwork, and talk through food, crate set-up and the first week at home. If the breed is not right for your home or your housing rules, we would rather tell you than sell you the wrong puppy.

How buying works: three unrushed steps

1. Browse. Meet our current puppies online. Ask us anything, and we will share health records, parents and personality notes.
2. Meet and greet. Book a private visit at our East Coast Road showroom. Cuddles are strongly encouraged.
3. Bring home. We prepare a puppy starter kit and guide you through the first few weeks at home.

All collections happen in-store, so we can hand over properly. We do not deliver puppies.
