Why cheap Golden Doodle puppies are a red flag

Listings well below S$3,500 usually mean undocumented imports, no AVS licence behind the sale, or puppies moved on before they were ready to leave their litter. Ask any seller for their AVS licence number, the breeder's name and the puppy's health records before you place a deposit — we're happy for you to ask us exactly the same questions in person.

Deposits, payment and what happens next

A deposit reserves a specific Golden Doodle puppy and is only taken after you've met the puppy or seen full video and paperwork. The balance is settled at collection in our showroom, where we walk you through the health records, feeding plan and the first week at home. Every puppy is covered by our 48-hour health guarantee so you can take a second-opinion vet visit with confidence.

HDB rules and housing

Only miniature Golden Doodles that fall under HDB's size and weight limit are eligible for an HDB flat; medium and standard sizes need a condominium or landed home. Miniatures sit around 10–15 kg while medium and standard Golden Doodles reach 20–30 kg and 50–60 cm at the shoulder. If you're in an HDB flat and want certainty, tell us the flat type and we'll only show you puppies that comfortably qualify, or point you to approved alternatives like the Maltipoo, Cavapoo or Cavachon.

Space, exercise and daily routine

Medium and standard Golden Doodles need 60 minutes of daily activity plus real mental work; miniatures are satisfied with 30–45 minutes and indoor games. Whatever the breed, walks in Singapore belong in the cooler hours — before roughly 9am and after 7pm — with water on hand and a quick pavement temperature check with the back of your hand. On rainy days, swap the walk for scent games, puzzle feeders or short training drills indoors.

Family, kids and other pets

Golden Doodles are outstanding family dogs — patient with kids, sociable with other pets, and one of the easiest breeds to include in everything you do. You're welcome to bring your children — and your current dog, with a diaper on — to meet our puppies at the showroom so you can see the dynamic for yourself before deciding.

Temperament, training and neighbours

Highly intelligent and eager to please, they learn fast but get destructive when under-stimulated, so daily training and puzzle work are non-negotiable. Start crate training and toilet routines from day one, keep training sessions short and reward-based, and socialise your puppy with lifts, void decks and delivery trolleys early — in dense Singapore housing, a confident dog is a quiet dog.

Managing heat and humidity

Doodle coats trap heat, so keep them clipped shorter through the year here, walk at dawn and dusk, and always carry water on longer outings. Watch for heavy panting, brick-red gums, thick drool or wobbliness — the early signs of heat stress. Cool your dog with room-temperature water on the belly and paws, never ice water, and call your vet immediately.

Coat, skin and grooming

The wavy fleece coat is low-shedding but mats fast in humidity — brush two to three times a week, right down to the skin, and book a groom every 6–8 weeks. Dry the coat thoroughly after every bath — damp fur in our humidity is the single biggest cause of hot spots and yeast — and check ears weekly, as Singapore's climate makes ear infections common in dogs with drop or heavily coated ears.

Feeding and healthy growth

Feed a puppy formula matched to adult size — large-breed formula for standards — across three meals until six months to keep growth steady. Keep your puppy lean; excess weight is the most avoidable contributor to joint problems later in life. Fresh water should always be available, and food portions adjusted every few weeks as your puppy grows.

Vet care and health screening

Ask about hip, elbow and eye clearances on the Golden Retriever and Poodle parents; ear care matters too, as drop ears plus humidity invites infection. Complete the vaccination series on schedule and start heartworm prevention early — mosquitoes make heartworm a year-round risk in Singapore. Every Golden Doodle we import arrives with breeder health records, so your own vet has full history from the very first visit.

Puppies stay with their litter until they are old enough to travel, fly on approved routes, then clear AVS import and quarantine requirements before arriving with us. Each puppy is examined by our vet on arrival, settled at the showroom, and only listed once we're satisfied it is healthy, eating well and comfortable with people.
