Why cheap Cockapoo puppies are a red flag

Listings well below S$2,800 usually mean undocumented imports, no AVS licence behind the sale, or puppies moved on before they were ready to leave their litter. Ask any seller for their AVS licence number, the breeder's name and the puppy's health records before you place a deposit — we're happy for you to ask us exactly the same questions in person.

Deposits, payment and what happens next

A deposit reserves a specific Cockapoo puppy and is only taken after you've met the puppy or seen full video and paperwork. The balance is settled at collection in our showroom, where we walk you through the health records, feeding plan and the first week at home. Every puppy is covered by our 48-hour health guarantee so you can take a second-opinion vet visit with confidence.

HDB rules and housing

The Cockapoo sits within HDB's approved small-dog list, so you can keep one in an HDB flat, a condominium or a landed home. HDB allows one dog per approved flat, and your puppy must be licensed with AVS and microchipped — both of which we handle before your puppy leaves our showroom. Condo owners should still check their MCST by-laws for lift and common-area rules. A full-grown toy or miniature Cockapoo weighs about 6–11 kg and stands 25–38 cm tall, keeping most within HDB's approved small-breed guidance.

Space, exercise and daily routine

Cockapoos are content with 40–60 minutes of daily activity — a morning walk, an evening stroll and some indoor fetch — which suits condo and HDB routines well. Whatever the breed, walks in Singapore belong in the cooler hours — before roughly 9am and after 7pm — with water on hand and a quick pavement temperature check with the back of your hand. On rainy days, swap the walk for scent games, puzzle feeders or short training drills indoors.

Family, kids and other pets

Cockapoos are patient, sunny and endlessly sociable, making them one of the easiest crosses for households with young children, elderly family members or a resident cat. You're welcome to bring your children — and your current dog, with a diaper on — to meet our puppies at the showroom so you can see the dynamic for yourself before deciding.

Temperament, training and neighbours

Clever and eager to please, Cockapoos house-train quickly but bond hard and can develop separation anxiety, so build up alone-time gradually from the first week. Start crate training and toilet routines from day one, keep training sessions short and reward-based, and socialise your puppy with lifts, void decks and delivery trolleys early — in dense Singapore housing, a confident dog is a quiet dog.

Managing heat and humidity

Cockapoos inherit the Cocker's heavy drop ears and enjoy water, so heat plus damp ears is the main risk — rinse and dry thoroughly after every outing and keep midday walks short. Watch for heavy panting, brick-red gums, thick drool or wobbliness — the early signs of heat stress. Cool your dog with room-temperature water on the belly and paws, never ice water, and call your vet immediately.

Coat, skin and grooming

The wavy Cocker × Poodle coat is low-shedding but grows continuously and mats quickly in humidity; brush every other day and book a groom every 6–8 weeks, keeping a shorter clip through the hottest months. Dry the coat thoroughly after every bath — damp fur in our humidity is the single biggest cause of hot spots and yeast — and check ears weekly, as Singapore's climate makes ear infections common in dogs with drop or heavily coated ears.

Feeding and healthy growth

Feed a small-breed puppy formula in three meals a day until six months, then twice daily; Cockapoos inherit the Cocker appetite and gain weight easily, so measure rather than free-feed. Keep your puppy lean; excess weight is the most avoidable contributor to joint problems later in life. Fresh water should always be available, and food portions adjusted every few weeks as your puppy grows.

Vet care and health screening

Ask about eye testing and PRA status on the parent lines, and build weekly ear cleaning into the routine — drop-eared breeds are the most common ear-infection cases at Singapore vets. Complete the vaccination series on schedule and start heartworm prevention early — mosquitoes make heartworm a year-round risk in Singapore. Every Cockapoo we import arrives with breeder health records, so your own vet has full history from the very first visit.

Puppies stay with their litter until they are old enough to travel, fly on approved routes, then clear AVS import and quarantine requirements before arriving with us. Each puppy is examined by our vet on arrival, settled at the showroom, and only listed once we're satisfied it is healthy, eating well and comfortable with people.
