What changes the price

Generation is the main factor. An F1 Cavapoo is a first cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle. Coat and colour matter too. Apricot, ruby and well-marked blenheim puppies tend to sit at the top of the range simply because demand for them is higher. The difference is entirely cosmetic — it says nothing about health or temperament.

Size within the cross plays a part. Toy Poodle crosses run smaller and are often priced above miniature Poodle crosses, because more Singapore families are shopping for the smallest possible dog for a flat.

What should never change the price is health screening, vaccination or documentation. Those are baseline, not upgrades.

The grooming cost people underestimate

Low-shedding does not mean low-maintenance, and this is the single most common budgeting mistake Cavapoo owners make. That soft wavy coat keeps the hair that would otherwise fall out, which means it mats instead of shedding.

Plan on professional grooming every four to six weeks at S$60 to S$100 a session in Singapore. Over a year that is S$600 to S$1,200 — a meaningful fraction of the puppy's purchase price, every year, for the dog's whole life.

Daily brushing at home is not optional either. Five minutes with a slicker brush and a metal comb, working from the skin outwards, prevents the tight mats that force a groomer to shave the coat right down. Singapore's humidity accelerates matting, so always dry the coat fully to the skin after a bath or a wet walk.

All in, budget about S$150 to S$280 a month for a Cavapoo once food, grooming and parasite prevention are included.

Cavapoos are genuinely well suited to Singapore living. They are small enough for HDB flats, they are people-oriented and gentle with children, and the low-shedding coat helps in a home where hair on the furniture is a problem.
